# Requirement & Compensation for VVC Members

**Requirements**:

To be added to our list of potential VVC Member's the following requirements must be met:

Evidence of expertise in biodiversity, biology, ecology, marine science, social impact, community governance that includes a PhD or master's degree and or at least 10 years proven experience in the field that inculdes published articles or documented participation in evaluation and or reporting experience.

Local Experts must show proven active participation in and knowledge of specific activities and ecosystems addresses in the protocol as well as community governance and/or local community nature-based issues such as ecology, biodiversity, water quality/usage, etc.  Local expert must be committed to executing field visits and interviews with local stakeholders as needed.  Local experts are not required to have advanced degrees.

Additional Requirements:

1. Verifiers for all Credit Classes must satisfy these minimum requirements:
   * Have sufficient proof of identity.
   * Be in a position of fiduciary duty.
2. Verifiers must sign a statement confirming their lack of conflict of interest with the Project Proponent. The Registry Agent and the Project Proponent must be satisfied that any potential for conflict of interest can be mitigated.
3. To limit the potential for conflict of interest, Verifiers will not conduct a verification for any project in which:
   1. Any member of the verification team has a financial interest in the project or the Project Proponent.
   2. The Verifier has played a role in developing this project specifically - this excludes tangential relationships such as tools or knowledge basis that are informing the project.
4. The verifier will disclose all relationships, such as familial or fiduciary, within the past three years between the Verifier on the one hand, and the project and Project Proponent on the other.

**Compensation/Payment:**

Project Proponent is responsible for engaging and paying for verifications.
